My darling daughter is sleeping so well through the night now, but typically her daytime sleeping is out the window! Sigh! I was thinking today about when I used to sing to her for a very long time before she would sleep and about how many lullabys I wrote during that time.
At the time I remember it was hard work but looking back with my love goggles on it was such a special time when I would sing peacefully over her. The memory melts my heart.
So I was inspired to sit down and write another one today. I am so happy with the result. I hope it brings some peace into your households as it did for me today!

Petite Music Box love to celebrate all seasons. But we particularly LOVE Spring! Spring fills my heart with such joy and promise.. and I am so so so enjoying getting outside with my daughter and exploring all the season has to offer.
So of COURSE I needed to write a song for Spring. I hope you enjoy fluttering about like little birds during the chorus and that it brings light and laughter into your sunshining homes over the following weeks!

"I can hear the birds sing!"

My darling daughter turned One year old! (I can barely believe it... just breathe Michal). For her party I enlisted the help of Emma and threw Harper a Petite Music Box Tea Party. She had a wonderful time with her very gorgeous little friends and their very beautiful mums. Here are some photos of our little Tea Party and Music Time.

Baking with a child at home certainly slows down the process (in a delightful way of course..hmm) Emma ended up baking with me the whole day!

I could eat this photo.

I have made these twice with Emma now and still have no idea how to make them. She assures me it is 'very easy'.

Love these cookies. Egg free aswell!
Recipe is here http://www.bakingmakesthingsbetter.com/2013/06/sandwiched-sprinkle-cookies.html

I LOVE using china cups. They are all so special but I hate to have them hidden away so they are frequently used at our house. These are a beautiful collection that have been passed on to me from both my and my husbands sides of the family.

I cut up an old blanket for bunting and made the tissue pom poms from tissue that cost me $1.

Emma's wrapping of Harpers gift. Isn't she great!

Emma drew Harper two BEAUTIFUL pictures for her birthday. So special!

Harper admiring Emmas amazing talent

"tweet tweet". Music time

Harper claps along. She is still managing to take my breathe away with her cuteness every day.

Happy Birthday little darling!

We did our first baby music session at my (Michal's) local playcentre a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun! Next week we are very excited to be doing a few more baby times at a couple different places around town. It is so great to be venturing out in the community to share our love of music with parents and their children. We are open to anything so if you have an idea of somewhere you would like to see us then don't hesitate to get in touch.

'Little Green Frog' is one of the familiar songs that we find is SO much fun to sing to babies. Megan thinks so too and requested that we record it so she can play it at home to her gorgeous little girl Charlotte.

So of course we were happy to oblige.

Galloop!

I wanted to write a fun wee song to sing to Harper at her nap times.... and here it is. What makes it even more fun is Emma had just acquired an accordion!
Lucky Harper had us serenade her with an accordion as she went down for her nap on Tuesday- now you can learn this wee tune and sing it to your gorgeous ones as you put them to bed. In French and English!!

It's time for a nap
It's only a nap
Just catch 40 winks and then I'll be write back.
Lay down your head
and I'll shut out the lights
Yes I'm aware it's still daytime not night.

But oo oo oo oo
I know what's best for you
oo oo oo oo
So it's time to nap!

Oh no! Rain again!
This is my first taste of winter as a mum and I am beginning to see I will need to start thinking creatively to stay sane on these wet and rainy days!
Here is a song for you to sing with your little ones on this rainy day and the ones to come!

We get together every Tuesday to sing, play, create, eat and dream. Here is a video we took during our Petite Music Box day this week at Emma and Jesse's house.
We had a wonderful Autumn day.

Here is another song for the season.
Its my baby girls first Autumn!
Granted, pretty much everything over this year is a first but I think it's good to get excited about the ordinary every day things that are run of the mill for us, but new and extraordinary for our children.
I can't wait to head into the gardens with my little girl and toss some leaves around.
I imagine waltzing around under the red, orange, yellow and gold (...and brown) trees to celebrate and enjoy the turning of the season so I wrote this song to sing as we dance.

I hope you all get a chance to stop and dance around with your children this Autumn.

I love Autumn! This is a song inspired by the season that I love.
It is in French but here is the translation into English.

I am looking at you by the window automne, yellow orange and red are your colours, I can hear you from the window, the rain is playing the rythmique and the wind the melody.
Quince jam, apple pie, pumpkin soup, I can smell hazelnut. Walking on the forest, fighting with leaves,a chestnut harvest, It is autumn.
Autumn, I love your apple smell you are everything but monotone
You are taking with you the summer left over to welcome the winter frost.

After mentioning during one recording session to Emma that I have never made or eaten Parisien Macarons she insisted that she teach me to make them one of our next Petite Music Box sessions. Obviously I was more than happy to partake in this exercise!! So with Harper snuggled up in Emmas bed having a nap we got busy in the kitchen and I was surprised to find that it wasn't too difficult!
So if you get a chance while your baby is napping... ignore the housework and give these treats a go!
You won't be disappointed!

 Recipe From Emma

white your white eggs, so you can have on two or three, the matter is to weight them. so for example if it weight 70 gram then you need
70 gram of icing sugar
70g of almond powder
70 g of white eggs
70g of sugar
in a sauce pan put the sugar and a bit of water and hit it until it becomes a syrup, so not to hot!!!!
in the same time whisk the egg until white (put a bit of salt before to whisk)
when the syrup is ready and the eggs are white then pour gradually the syrup into the white egg and don't stop whisking it until it get colder
in the oven tray put the almond ground and roast it a little bit to get it dry.
then mix the ground almond with the icing sugar and sift the mixture into a bowl.
when the white eggs are ready fold gradually the white eggs into the ground almond.
Using a pastry bag put it onto an oven tray and into the oven at 150 degree for 10/15 mins
enjoy with or without filling!!!!

This song talks about how amazing the day was but that it is now the time for us to sleep and to think about all the wonderful things we will do tomorrow. It says to not be sad that this day is come to its end but to think instead about. "all those kisses saved only for daddy" that you can give to him tomorrow.

I often think about how though my daughter will be born and raised in the same city I was, she will grow up in a completely different Christchurch than the one I grew up in. It sometimes makes me sad to think of not being able to show her some of the buildings I lived in, or worked in, or some of the places I loved to spend time. And when I think of the Earthquake I wonder if I will ever be able to convey to her what we have experienced as a city and as a people.
But what I do know, however, is she will have the utterly unique experience of growing up in a city that daily grows from the ground up with her, and that is something to be excited about.

I wrote this song this morning to sing to Harper today, on the second anniversary of our life changing Earthquake on February 22nd. It baffles me how much life has changed in the past two years, in ways big and small. Motherhood is certainly one of the bigger ways!

This recording is rough around the edges, and features backing noises from the gorgeous Harper. But I hope you and your children enjoy this wee song. Love to all the Christchurch mums xxxx

This music is an adaptation of two beautiful children songs “AuClaire de la Lune and Une Chanson” put together to become one and be twice as delightful.

Au Claire d’une chanson douce est une adaptation de Au Claire de la Lune et d’Une chanson Douce mis ensemble pour faire durer le plaisir.

I wrote this song when Harper (my little girl- now 6 months) was a couple of months old. I can’t tell you how many times I have sung it now but I still love singing it to her as she drifts off to sleep. I hope you enjoy.
