#theviewfromhere

Welcome to our new segment on our blog that we are so excited about!
Each week or so we will interview a mum or dad with a few quick questions to get a glimpse into their story and their life and mind as a parent.
We believe everyone has something worth saying, and the more we hear from each other the more we realise we are all in this together- simply going after a better world for our children.

As Harper said at the age of 3 "we are all differently the same".

Emma, aged 30, mother of two boys.

What's your story?

I am a french mummy of two boys- Joseph and Sasha, living in New Zealand. I'm married to a kiwi man- Jesse- and moved here 8 years ago to give him the opportunity to propose.
I'm a musician and I love composing music. I've never really been good with words but I can express myself so much with music.

What have your children taught you?

First of all, a love that I didn't know existed... I didn't know you could love like this.
Because having children is so selfless, you have to work on yourself a lot, so I've had to learn to trust the world again for my kids safety and now everything I'm doing I have a purpose.. it's for my kids and to make the world a better place for them. They give me more strength to actually achieve what I was always postponing before.. like a slap in the face.

What is your parenting 'mantra'?

Trust yourself.
All you want is the best for your kids, and you as a parent knows what is best.
I don't care to be part of a group who is 'anti' this or 'pro' that. I just want the best for my kids.

What's on your mind?

Family and boogie.

What's your favourite thing to do or place to go with your children?

I love dancing with them. Sometimes all four of us dance together.
and I love going to the Christchurch Museum.. I think it's a really great place, Joseph loves it!

What is your favourite child related item all parents should rush out and buy 20 of?

I'm obsessed with blankets! And muslin.
My favourite one is a nature baby blanket with stars and moons that my mum bought me from Little Folk at the Tannery.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Bon Iver.
Helene Bohy/Isabelle Caillard- children's music.
Classical radio and Tigran Hamasyan in the car.
